Same Director, Different Timeline: How Can It Impact Box Office?

Events that occur seldom are more amusing. Although most of them become informed, some might be a fruitful coincidence. However, in the film industry, the result is also keenly observed by its analysts and audiences. Will the Malayalam film industry be able to achieve such a feat?

Two movies are en route for release on the big screen and knowingly or unknowingly, both movies are headed by the same director. Isn’t it a surprise? Director Amal Neerad is all geared up for his upcoming effort ‘Bougainvillea’ and ‘Anwar’ which was a 2010 release.

‘Anwar’ is an action thriller film that has been bankrolled by Raj Zacharias for Red Carpet Entertainment Productions and the screenplay as well as dialogues are penned by Unni R and the director himself. The movie talked about terrorism and misconceptions regarding the generalization of specific communities, and dealing with such a sensitive issue.

The storyline has a character-driven narrative and even though the making and breaking of the conventionality were much of a discussion among the audience during its release, commercially the effort couldn’t do well despite having a cult following its post-theatrical shows. Also, The film’s plot elements were inspired by the 2008 American film Traitor.

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has done the titular character along with an ensemble cast of actors Lal, Prakash Raj, Mamtha Mohandas, Vinayakan, Assim Jammal, Sai Kumar, Nithya Menen, Sreejith Ravi, Vinay Fort, Shane Nigam, and Salim Kumar in pivotal roles.

The technical labour included the handling of cinematography by Satheesh Kurup, editing overseen by Vivek Harshan, and Gopi Sundar composed the music as well as the background scores respectively.

The movie is expected to be re-released on the 25th of this month in the 4K resolution format.

‘Bougainvillea’ is expected to be a kickass action thriller film directed by Amal Neerad and produced by Kunchako Boban for Udaya Pictures as well as Jyothirmayi for Amal Neerad Productions. The screenplay will be penned by Lajo Jose along with the director. Dialogues for the flick are written by RJ Murugan.

On the contrary, the screenwriter has confirmed on his social media page that the speculation of the script which is an adaptation of his own Malayalam novel ‘Ruthinte Lokam’ (Eng. The World of Ruth) is not true and the flick tells an entirely different story.

The technical labour is the pack of a brilliant team which includes Anand C Chandren as the cinematographer, Vivek Harshan overseeing the editing, along with Sushin Shyam composing the music and background scores for the flick.

The movie features an ensemble cast of actors Kunchako Boban and Jyothirmayi in lead roles, alongside actor Fahadh Faasil, who will be playing an extended cameo. Actors Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda will be playing important roles respectively.

The movie is expected on big screens on the 17th of this month (tomorrow) which will have a worldwide theatrical release.

In a nutshell, the second half of the month has two highly anticipated movies by the audience where one is hoping for what difference the new craft can make, and the other will be able to explore the different perspective of its technical alteration along with a hope of how it can change the experience, to where both are going to be witnessed by the same filmmaker.
