The releases to date of Malayalam cinema have a plethora of thrillers in its filmography. Almost a great percentage of films were remarked from average to be mixed by the audience via OTT and theater. Is there anything more to expect in the upcoming crime thriller?
‘Gumasthan: A Brutal Criminal Beyond Law’ is expected to be a crime thriller that is based on a cop investigation episode and a landlord is its nucleus for the storyline. The movie is directed by Amal K Joby and produced by Musafir Film Company. The screenplay is penned by Riyas Ismath and the music is composed by Stephen Devassy.
The technical labour includes the handling of cinematography by Kunjunni S Kumar and editing is done by Ayoob Khan. The trailer cuts by Linto Kurian are brilliant and to the point.
The movie features actors Bibin George, Dileesh Pothan, Jaise Jose, Rony David Raj, Azees Nedumangad, Alexander Prasanth, and Sminu Sijo in important roles. The performances of actors Jaise Jose and Dileesh Pothan are hoped to be presented at top-notch which will be a watchable factor of the flick.
Subsequently, the scope of the screenplay and editing are visible which can be another reason to engage the narrative. The movie is expected to bring a suspense element throughout the storytelling which can make the audience interesting.
However, the release of yet another cliché cop thriller in Malayalam cinema is a drawback for the movie. Introducing a fresh and unique concept or perspective could help the movie attract a wider audience and increase its chances of success, similar to the 2018 Malayalam cop-investigation thriller “Joseph”.
The movie is releasing in theatres on the 27th of September and stay tuned in Binged for more updates regarding ‘Gumasthan’.
