The action thriller ‘Anwar’ came out in 2010 and is now available to watch for free on Hotstar and also on Zee5. It is a Malayalam movie written and directed by Amal Neerad and had Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role.
‘Anwar’ tells the story of a young man named Anwar, played by Sukumaran, who is Arrested for money laundering. In jail, he meets a man named Babu Sait, who is in jail because of terrorism charges. Anwar gains the trust of Babu Sait and is soon recruitedin his gang. After getting out of the jail, Anwar is given the responsibility of bringing terrorists in through the border. The story takes a turn in the second half and it serves as a fascinating plot twist.
The film is somewhat inspired by the Hollywood thriller ‘Traitor’. Amal Neerad does a good job as the director and the performances are convincing too. Apart from Prithviraj Sukumaran, there are other actors like Prakash Raj, Mamtha Mohandas, Lal etc. Mammootty narrates the story through voiceover. The cinematography is handled by Satheesh Kurup and the music is given by Gopi Sundar.
The movie is two hours and fourteen mintues long and does not bore you for a single moment. Enjoy your Sunday and watch ‘Anwar’ with your friends and family.
