Cinemas will now be able to run on full capacity, thanks to Mr. Prakash Javadekar, the honorable Minister of Information and Broadcasting. But he isn’t the only person multiplex owners are thankful to.
In a media release issued by the Multiplex Association Of India (MAI), the members have expressed their gratitude for allowing 100% seating capacity in theatres, not only to the government but also actor Sunny Deol, who is also currently a Member of Parliament. The association says that it is thankful to him for his “tireless and unwavering efforts”.
Appreciating Deol’s efforts, the press release by the members of MAI further read, “His leadership combined with his commitment to serve the best long-term interests of the entire sector, has played a vital role in putting the film industry back on the path to recovery and growth.”
Devang Sampat, CEO Cinepolis India said, “Shri Sunny Deol is hugely admired in the film industry not only for his enormous contribution as an actor, director and producer, but also for his personal lifetime values as a genuine human being and a guide to many. I am confident that film industry community will continue to benefit from his valued leadership and counsel.”
While the multiplex owners have appreciated and welcomed the central government’s decision of allowing 100% occupancy in theatres, it has simultaneously urged the state governments to “urgently implement the new SOPs” in their respective states.
