Indian viewers waiting eagerly for HBO Max to launch in India can take some heart. Streaming major Prime Video India is bringing a massive slate of HBO Max Original films and series for Indian viewers. Prime Video India has announced an initial slate of 11 HBO Max original series and 10 HBO Max original features for release in India in the months of July and August.
The list of HBO Max titles that will stream on Prime Video India include the popular and much-awaited ‘The Flight Attendant’ S1 and S2; ‘Peacemaker’ Season 1; ‘Doom Patrol’ all seasons; ‘Raised By Wolves’ S1 and S2; and several more.
The first of the HBO Max titles have already begun streaming on Prime Video India. They include HBO Max Original comedy drama film ‘An American Pickle’, starring Seth Rogen in a double role; murder mystery thriller series ‘The Flight Attendant’ S1 & S2, starring Kaley Cuoco; and animated Aquaman trilogy, ‘Aquaman: King of Atlantis’. All the HBO Max titles coming to Prime Video India will be available to stream for Prime Video subscribers at no extra cost other than the regular subscription cost.
Prime Video India has a tie-up with Warner Bros. for streaming its content in India. By dint of this, most Warner Bros. films and series premiere on Prime Video India, albeit a considerable time after their HBO Max release.
However, there seems to be a hint of bad news hidden in the above announcement. The most popular HBO Max titles coming on Prime Video can only mean one thing – HBO Max is not coming to India any time soon. The streaming service from HBO and Warner Bros. launched in the USA in May 2020. There was some speculation that HBO Max would launch in India by summer 2022, which of course has not happened. Now, HBO Max’s launch in India looks to be an even longer way away.
