2020: The Year Turns Memorable for Sudha Kongara

2020 is a dreadful year for most of us. The fancy numbered year inflicted losses to everyone in one form or the other with the Pandemic. However, 2020 has turned memorable for the filmmaker, Sudha Kongara. Not in one way but in two ways. She delivered two finest contents for OTT this year with Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru and Thangam in Paava Kadhaigal Anthology.

Soorarai Pottru emerged as a super hit in all the languages it released. The movie marks the comeback of Suriya to the winning ways after a long time. The story of an underdog fighting against all odds to start India’s first budget airline and the way how she embedded a small track of women empowerment is inspiring.

She ended the year on a high note with Thangam in Paava Kadhaigal Anthology. It is a hard-hitting story about honour killing. The story is ranked second-best of the four stories of Paava Kadhaigal in a user’s poll run on the Binged.com Twitter page. The way she selected a story that is unconventional even for the so-called educated class of people is interesting and bold. It is not easy to win accolades with such a concept but Sudha Kongara managed it.
