3 Body Problem Season 2: Liam Cunningham Will ‘Only Advance’

Liam Cunningham, known for playing Davos Seaworth in HBO’s Game of Thrones, has teased his character’s future in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem Season 2. Created by D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, the sci-fi series follows a group of scientists preparing Earth’s defense against an impending alien invasion. Cunningham portrays the mysterious, blunt, and hardened Thomas Wade, who is determined to do whatever it takes to protect humanity. His role is expected to become even more crucial in Season 2.

In his recent sit down with Deadline, Cunningham discussed Wade’s future in Season 2. The Irish talent believes his character will “only advance” in the series. This is what he said:

“This guy, the man who has tried to save humanity is probably the least human of all characters that are in there. His attitude won’t change at all. He’s a rhino and he will ‘only advance’.”

Cunningham’s Wade was indeed one of the strongest and most intriguing characters in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem. Some reviewers found the actor’s take on the character more humorous and hard-edged compared to Liu Cixin’s 2008 titular novel. That’s why his recent comments about the character make sense.

Netflix took some time but eventually renewed the show for two more seasons. However, it all depends upon their viewership. In terms of viewership, Season 1 was a decent success but failed to break any streaming record. Given the series’ per-episode budget of nearly $20 million, 3 Body Problem needs to become a major viewership success in Season 2 to secure its long-term survival on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
