The winners for the 2024 edition of the Filmfare Awards were announced yesterday. And diehard cinema lovers were overjoyed after learning that Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s heartrending drama ‘12th Fail’ bagged multiple awards including the ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Director’ trophies.
On the other hand, some films and actors, which arguably deserved Filmfare Award wins in different categories, were surprisingly snubbed / brushed-off. We have mentioned below the three most surprising snubs from the 69th Filmfare Awards. We have included only those names which were nominated in their respective categories.
Best Actor (Deserved Winner: Vicky Kaushal for ‘Sam Bahadur’)
Although Ranbir Kapoor had worked really hard for his performance as the psychopath gangster in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s massively popular film ‘Animal’, we think it was unfair for Vicky Kaushal, whose performance deserved the ‘Best Actor’ Filmfare Award. In fact, both Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal could have been awarded jointly for their respective performances.
Best Actress (Deserved Winner: Rani Mukerji for ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’)
Alia Bhatt is a tremendously talented actress, and she has given terrific performances in films like ‘Raazi’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, and ‘Highway’. But her performance in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ is not among her best. That’s why we think the ‘Best Actress’ Filmfare Award 2024 should have gone to Rani Mukerji instead. The good thing is that Rani Mukerji was given the ‘Best Actress Critics’ Filmfare Award.
Best Dialogue (Deserved Winners: Vidhu Vinod Chopra for ‘12th Fail’ / Varun Grover & Shoeb Zulfi Nazeer for ‘Three of Us’ / Amit Rai for ‘OMG 2’)
The ‘Best Dialogue’ Filmfare Award 2024 has been won by Ishita Moitra (for RARKPK). The film’s dialogues were well-written and amusing. But there were three more strong(er) contenders which couldn’t win in the category. They were Vidhu Vinod Chopra for ‘12th Fail’, Varun Grover & Shoeb Zulfi Nazeer for ‘Three of Us’, and Amit Rai for ‘2’. It might have been a close contest but any of the above-mentioned films probably deserved more to win the ‘Best Dialogue’ Filmfare 2024 Award. What do you think?
