Rush Hour, 1998 (Streaming on Netflix)
Helmed by Brett Ratner, the action-comedy movie starts off with the kidnapping of a Chinese diplomat’s daughter in America. Now, a dedicated and upright Hong Kong cop (Jackie Chan) must team up with an easy-going and reckless but good-hearted LAPD cop (Chris Tucker) to rescue the girl. The two lead actors have a crackling chemistry in this one.
The Foreigner, 2017 (Streaming on MX Player, Lionsgate Play)
Directed by Martin Campbell (The Mask of Zorro, Casino Royale), the underrated action thriller movie follows the story of a highly skilled former soldier Quan (Jackie Chan), who now lives a peaceful life in London. But when his only daughter is killed by terrorists, Quan crosses paths with a government official (Pierce Brosnan), whose past might hold the key in Quan’s desperate search for the killers.
The Karate Kid, 2010 (Streaming on Netflix)
Jackie Chan essays the role of a reserved maintenance man and a highly skilled martial arts expert, who takes a young boy (Jaden Smith) under his wing and teaches him kung fu to defend himself from school bullies. ‘The Karate Kid’ is a remake of the cult 1984 film of the same name but in the reboot, the goings-on take place in China instead.
