Amazon Prime Video has managed to nab the streaming rights of yet another Malayalam movie – this time it will be a light-hearted, family film. Titled ‘Home‘, this feel-good, relatable flick is expected to premiere on the OTT platform during next weekend. With the film getting a quick release right after the direct-to-OTT release announcement, here are 4 fun facts you can check out before the movie drops next week:
Number 11
When ‘Home’ releases on Amazon Prime Video, it will be the 11th Malayalam movie to release on the OTT platform directly for streaming. It is also the 7th Malayalam movie to release directly for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the year 2021. After months of struggling to get OTT platforms to notice Mollywood films, Amazon Prime Video alone has managed to nab multiple projects for direct-to-OTT release.
Indrans 341
This will be Malayalam actor, Indrans’ 341st feature film – what an achievement! A career spanning over 4 decades, this movie also manages to break new ground for the veteran actor – it will be his first direct-to-OTT movie in which he will be portraying the lead protagonist.
6 Year Hiatus
The film director, Rojin Thomas, was a household name back in 2013, with his directional debut, ‘Philips and the Monkey’. He however had a bad outing in 2015 with his second film, ‘Jo and the Baby’, after which the director took a 6-year hiatus. He is back now, with two new projects, ‘Home’ being one of them.
It’s Nearly 900!
While Indrans has acted in 340 films, another acting veteran will be part of the cast – K.P.A.C. Lalitha. This actress has an acting career spanning over 5 decades and has appeared in over 550 films. After removing the few films both these actors will have appeared together, they will still have appeared in 870-880 different films combined. Which is nuts!
‘Home’ will premier on Amazon Prime Video on August 19th 2021.
