Southern star Keerthy Suresh rose to fame with her portrayal of yesteryear actress Savitri in the 2018 Telugu film, ‘Mahanati’. Having been a child artist and debuted in 2013, this film made her a household name, cemented her position in the acting world and also won her a national award. It was only after this that the leading lady began to get a number of meaty roles. Having worked predominantly in Tamil and Telugu films, she has received one National Award, three SIIMA Awards, one Filmfare Award South, and two Zee Cine Awards (Telugu) among others, for her various performances.
Keerthy has a number of big ticket films coming up, especially one with the Thalaiva himself, Rajinikanth (‘Annaatthe’) and the action-packed entertainer ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ with Mahesh Babu. Besides them, she has some powerful roles coming up too. She will also be seen in the Telugu remake of the hit Bollywood film ‘Mimi’, starring Kriti Sanon. So here’s putting together a list of 4 of her upcoming movies to watch out for-
1. Saani Kaayidham
The upcoming Tamil crime drama directed by Arun Matheswaran, features Keerthy Suresh and director-turned-actor Selvaraghavan in lead roles. Set in the 1980s, the film inspired by true events portrays the duo as siblings, the poster showing them with weapons laid out in front of the police. Keerthy’s rustic avatar is the prime focus of this rural drama and is surely one to watch out for. The trailer is set to drop soon and the film is looking at a release by the year end.
2. Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea
The upcoming Malayalam epic historical drama written and directed by Priyadarshan, is said to be the most expensive Malayalam film yet. Set in the 16th century, the film is based on Kunjali Marakkar IV, the Calicut naval commander, known for defending the Malabar Coast against the Portuguese invasion. The film stars Mohanlal in the titular role along with his son Pranav, Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Manju Warrier and Keerthy Suresh. The film’s release has been repeatedly postponed due to the pandemic and should hopefully see a release soon.
3. Good Luck Sakhi
This upcoming Telugu sports romantic comedy film Good Luck Sakhi is written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The film stars Keerthy Suresh, Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu and the makers just let fans in on an update earlier today for the actress’ birthday. The film that was postponed due to the pandemic will finally now hit screens in November. The plot follows the story of Sakhi, who supposedly brings bad luck to everyone and is surely one women-centric film to look out for.
4. Annaatthe
Written and directed by Siva, the action drama ‘Annaatthe’ features an ensemble cast comprising Rajinikanth in the lead, along with Meena, Khushbu, Nayanthara and Keerthy Suresh, among others. Although majorly a Rajinikanth film, Keerthy plays the role of his sister in the film that’s touted to be an emotional sibling saga. Her role will definitely be one to grab attention and stand out. Catch the film in theatres this Diwali.
