ZEE5 has announced the release of its new original film, titled ‘420 IPC’. The new film comes on the heels of ZEE5’s recent successes such as 200: Halla Ho, Aafat-E-Ishq and Dial 100. 420 IPC premieres on ZEE5 on December 17, rounding off an eventful year for the homegrown streaming platform.
The plot of 420 IPC centres on a case of a massive scam and forgery, and the law enforcement agencies trying to pin the scam on an innocent, in order to shield the powerful guilty. Manish Gupta, who has earlier written the gritty Akshaye Khanna-starrer ‘Section 375’, is the writer of this hard-hitting story. Interestingly, the makers had earlier named their film ‘Scam’ but chose to go ahead with 420 IPC instead.
420 IPC boasts a stellar cast, comprising Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Gul Panag, Rohan Vinod Mehra and Arif Zakaria. Rohan Vinod Mehra is the son of yesteryear’s actor, the late Vinod Mehra. He was earlier seen in Saif Ali Khan starrer, ‘Baazaar’.
As per the official logline from ZEE5, Vinay Pathak plays a chartered accountant, who is framed for an economic offence. Rohan Vinod Mehra plays the lawyer who advocates his case in court, while Ranvir Shorey plays a Parsi public prosecutor. Gul Panag plays Vinay Pathak’s wife.
Director Manish Gupta shared with the media, “An intricate web-like plot woven around the mechanics of economic offences is the crux of the film and the mystery unfolds slowly and steadily in the film, keeping one intrigued till the end.”
‘420 IPC’ will play out primarily as a courtroom drama. Going by the storyline, and Manish Gupta’s previous ‘Section 375’, 420 IPC promises to be another winner for ZEE5.
