Streaming service Disney+ Hotstar has churned out some well-made shows since it started operating in India. The OTT platform boasts of some well-crafted web series such as ‘Aarya’, ‘Criminal Justice’, ‘Special Ops’, and ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’, to name a few.
On the other hand, there are also some Disney+ Hotstar original Indian shows which have either ended or there hasn’t been any concrete update with respect to their continuation / revival for another season. Here are five such web series which deserve another shot and should be revived / renewed by Disney+ Hotstar.
The Freelancer
Neeraj Pandey’s thriller web series revolves around a daredevil rescue mission undertaken by a fearless mercenary to get back a young girl from war-torn Syria. It features Mohit Raina, Kashmira Pardeshi, and Anupam Kher in important roles. Considering the show’s plot, the makers have myriad possibilities to make multiple seasons which can show other missions undertaken by Mohit Raina’s character.
The Night Manager
The series features Aditya Roy Kapoor in the titular role of a night manager, who is pulled into a high-stakes game where he must face a dangerous arms dealer (Anil Kapoor). It’s the Indian adaptation of the popular British series of the same name. And since Tom Hiddleston is set to return for a second season of the parent series, the Indian counterpart also deserves another season.
School of Lies
The mystery thriller revolves around the sudden disappearance of a 12-year-old boy from a private boarding school, thereby revealing some dark secrets about the place. There is a dearth of good mystery thriller shows like this on Indian OTT. So, a potential Season-2 of ‘School of Lies’ should be warmly received by Indian OTT viewers.
Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo
The crime drama series features veteran actress Dimple Kapadia as a ruthless matriarch who rules a secret drug empire. But her pursuit of finding her heir sparks a succession war. The show also features Naseeruddin Shah, Radhika Madan, Angira Dhar, Isha Talwar and Deepak Dobriyal in interesting roles. If the makers can get together the ensemble cast for one more time for another season, then that would be awesome.
Ghar Waapsi
The show’s plot revolves around a man named Shekhar (played by Vishal Vashishtha), who comes back to his hometown Indore after two years, after getting fired from his lucrative job in Bengaluru. Things go well in the beginning but how long can Shekhar keep the terrible news a secret from his own family. Slice-of-life, relatable family dramas never go out of fashion for Indian viewers, so ‘Ghar Waapsi’ also needs a Season-2.
