5 Must Watch 90s Action Movies to Watch on Indian OTT (Part-1)

Many hardcore movie buffs, more particularly those who were born in the new millennium might have missed some well-made action movies that came out in the 1990s period. So, for this article series, we thought of compiling a list of some fine action flicks from the 90s. We have made an effort to include a blend of blockbuster movies and their relatively unknown counterparts which deserve to be on this list.

The Fugitive (Streaming on Netflix)

The film features Harrison Ford as a Chicago-based surgeon who becomes a fugitive after being wrongly accused of brutally murdering his wife. On his trail is an experienced U. S. Marshal (played by Tommy Lee Jones) as the innocent doctor races against time to nab the real culprit.

Enemy of the State (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)

Directed by gifted filmmaker Late Tony Scott, the relatively unknown 90s film follows a sharp-witted lawyer (Will Smith) who accidentally becomes the target of government authorities after he unknowingly secures a critical piece of evidence. The only person who can save him is a former communication analyst (played by Gene Hackman).

GoldenEye (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

When a space-based weapon system called GoldenEye falls into the hands of a dangerous man fuelled by vengeance, it is up to the super-spy James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) to stop a Russian crime syndicate from acquiring the Soviet-era weapon GoldenEye. But this time, he must face a formidable enemy who knows him better than anyone else. Helmed by Martin Campbell, it was Pierce Brosnan’s debut James Bond movie.

Under Siege (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

Set in a US Navy battleship, this 90s action film revolves around a disgraced former Navy SEAL turned personal cook (Steven Seagal), who must use his very particular set of skills to stop a group of terrorists led by a disillusioned ex-CIA operative (Tommy Lee Jones) from taking control of the ship.

The Jackal (Streaming on Netflix)

This underrated action film of the 90s was based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel of the same name. The film featured ‘Diehard’ action hero Bruce Willis in the role of the titular villain. When a mobster hires an international hitman ‘The Jackal’ (Bruce Willis) to eliminate a high profile American, the FBI enlists an imprisoned IRA sniper (Richard Gere), who has a personal grudge against the ‘The Jackal’, to foil the assassination attempt.
