5 Must-Watch Time-Loop Movies to Watch on Indian OTT

Time-loop is an intriguing sci-fi sub-genre that was recently also portrayed in the deftly executed Indian film ‘Maanaadu’. Although the film is yet to start streaming on Indian OTT platforms. Helmed by (The Bourne Identity), this lime-loop action thriller revolves around an untrained soldier (played by Tom Cruise) who is forced to continually live and die the same day amidst the backdrop of a violent alien invasion battlefront. One day, he meets a highly trained soldier (played by Emily Blunt), who herself has gone through the same experience. How they try to get out of the seemingly infinite time-loop and overthrow the alien invasion forms the film’s primary premise.

An Army Captain and helicopter pilot (Jake Gyllenhaal) is sent on a mission to identify a bomber in a commuter train that is the target of the bombing. But there’s a catch: he has just eight minutes to find out. Another catch: he can relive those eight minutes multiple times, that is, every time he dies in the train explosion. It’s a must-watch edge-of-the-seat thriller that also features Vera Farmiga in a nice supporting role.

ARQ (Streaming on Netflix)

In this low-budget sci-fi, a couple (played by Robbie Amell and Rachael Taylor) fight a home invasion while also being stuck in an infinite time loop, which compels them to repeatedly relive the same day. Their attempts to safely get out of the time loop, and confront the intruders form the rest of the story.

Déjà Vu (Streaming/Rent on Google Play, YouTube)

Directed by Late Tony Scott (brother of Ridley Scott and the man behind ‘Man on Fire’ and ‘Enemy of the State’), Déjà Vu is an investigative murder-mystery which beautifully incorporated the concept of time-travel or time-loop in a never-seen-before way. The film starring Denzel Washington (in supreme form) and Jim Caviezel (lead actor – Person of Interest), follows an ATF special agent’s pursuit to find the man responsible for a lethal ferry explosion.

Game Over (Streaming on Netflix)

The psychological horror film revolves around a talented, wheelchair-bound video game developer (played by Taapsee Pannu) who is suffering from post-traumatic stress and dealing with a dark memory. The film’s underlying premise is reminiscent of a video game structure and follows the protagonist’s attempt to defend her home from a mysterious intruder. Revealing further details about the film’s plot might spoil the experience for prospective viewers.
