5 Reasons That Make Zee5’s ‘Black Widows’ A Must Watch!

By Binged Bureau - Nov 19, 2020 @ 09:11 am

The trailer for Zee5’s upcoming dark comic thriller ‘Black Widows‘ has piqued everyone’s interest. The show which is the eighth international remake of the Finnish drama of the same name is going to be a journey of 24 episodes, each of around half an hour duration, set to premiere on Zee5 on 18th December 2020.

The plotline of ‘Black Widows’ follows three best friends, who are each struggling with abusive husbands. Having had enough, they hatch a plan to kill their husbands and put an end to their misery. After executing the plan, just when they thought they could finally be free, an investigation into the murder of their husbands springs up.

This not only brings them under the suspicion of the investigating officer but also tests their loyalty to each other. And if that wasn’t enough, to add to the trouble one of the husbands survives the explosion and is back to take revenge on the ladies!

The series has been produced by Big Synergy Media Ltd and along with Zee5 they have a two-season deal with NENT Studios UK for the Indian version of ‘Black Widows’. Here’s why the Zee5 show is gonna be worth a watch!

Stellar Star Cast:

The Zee5 series has some amazingly talented actors on board including Mona Singh, Swastika Mukherjee, Shamita Shetty, Sharad Kelkar, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Raima Sen, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Aamir Ali, Shruti Vyas, Faisal Malik, and Nikhil Bhambri. With such a powerful ensemble one should expect nothing less than a phenomenal performance.

A Cool Mix Of Thriller & Dark Comedy

As mentioned above, the show’s thrilling storyline and its dark comic genre are working superbly together as seen in the show’s trailer. This admixture of genres makes it interesting and one wouldn’t get bored of too much seriousness, generally surrounding thrillers.

Savage Women Take The Lead

While most thriller shows out there are male-dominated, ‘Black Widows’ is different. The women in the show form its core and the whole story revolves around them. They have this unique mix of strength and gentleness. The show also highlights society’s gender bias and how the modern woman deals with it.

Enthralling Story With Stunning Views

The show’s plotline has every ingredient to make it an edge of the seat thriller drama with doses of quirkiness in between. The whole series is full of plans rising and falling, a riveting investigation, emotional upheavals, action, deceit, and much more. To top it off ‘Black Widows’ is set in gorgeous locations, taking the audience on a virtual nature tour.

Talented Director – Birsa Dasgupta

Coming from a family involved in filmmaking, Birsa Dasgupta started off as unit director in Anurag Kashyap’s 2004 film ‘Black Friday’, but gained recognition for his telefilm ‘Romharshak Dakatir Golpo’ that also went to the Thrissur International Film Festival. He made his feature film début in 2010 with a Bengali film ‘033’ and has since been making some amazing Bengali films. Given his past works and the sneak peak through the trailer, his magic is sure to work again this time in Zee5’s ‘Black Widows’.

‘Black Widows’ has been successfully adapted in so many languages and that makes for an additional reason to catch the highly anticipated show about to launch on Zee5 on 18th December, 2020.
