5 Significant Things That Convey More Than You Realise In Netflix’s ‘Dark’!

By Binged Bureau - Jun 26, 2020 @ 08:06 pm

5 Significant Things That Convey More Than You Realise In Netflix's 'Dark'!Ominous sightings, eerie forests and confusing disappearances mark the crux of Netflix’s ‘Dark’. The show foreshadows future events by leaving various hints through cryptic symbols and covert metaphors. An enthralling saga of travelling through time and the dangers it imposes on to the people of sleepy Winden is mind-boggling and fascinating to say the least.

This article contains spoilers from season one and two.

The show makes use of several significant components to portray this enthralling story and some of them are:

1.The Silver Pendant: A Token Of Love

Jonas Kahnwald is seen wearing a silver pendant that features Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers which Martha Nielsen gives to him in 2019 as a symbol for her love. When she learns of the possibility of time travel, the pendant mysteriously appears on her bed. Could it be an indication from future Jonas to convey his feelings for her?

2.Dead Animals: A Metaphor For Death

In 1986, a farmer finds a herd of sheep lying dead in a field, who are later revealed to be dead from cardiac arrest suspiciously at the same time and with eardrums bleeding. There are dead birds falling from the sky twice in the span of 33 years. Charlotte Doppler notices this and senses that something has come full circle, the only question is what?

3.Yellow Barrels: The Barrels of Doom

In 2020, before the nuclear plant is decommissioned Aleksander collects the barrels from the truck stop and stores them in the cooling basin of the plant. However when Clausen demands that the barrels be opened a peculiar black substance rises from them which causes a portal in time to 2053 and ends up causing the apocalypse.

4.‘A Journey Through Time’: A Palimpsest On Time

This book was written by H.G. Tannhaus contains the theoretical structure for the concept of time travel, right from wormholes, the Bootstrap Paradox, lunar-solar cycle to Einstein-Rosen bridges. The book itself travels through time in the past and future with various characters. The author himself receives a copy from Claudia Tiedmann who is from the future and writes it word for word. So is the origin of the book a paradox itself?

5.Triquetra: The Knot of Trinity

This symbol is found on Germanic rune stones, Christian imagery and Japanese illustrations. It symbolizes that there is no beginning or end and everything is connected. The Winden Caves as well create a time loop between the years 1953, 1986 and 2019; a trinity. It’s depicted on the leather notebook, Emerald’s tablet as well as the Stranger’s drawings. Will the knot ever untie?

The third and final season of ‘Dark’ premieres on June 27th on Netflix.
