Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s gangster thriller movie starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role is certainly one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2023 and the curiosity quotient got hotter after the film’s trailer was released a few days back. And the wait is almost over because the film will finally be released in cinemas on 1st December alongside Megha Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ starring Vicky Kaushal.
Before the film’s release this Friday, we have compiled for our readers a list of five interesting things / trivia about ‘Animal’ as per the latest buzz. We hope you will enjoy reading them.
1. In case you have seen the full trailer of ‘Animal’, you might have noticed Ranbir Kapoor’s character holding an incredibly massive machine gun. You’ll be surprised to know that the machine gun was apparently not created through CGI / special effects, but it took around four months to manufacture the gun from steel and ostensibly it weighs around a whopping 500 kgs.
2. The underlying plot of ‘Animal’ essentially revolves around a complicated father-son relationship (played by Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor) and how the son transforms into a violent psychopath with animal-like instincts (that’s why the title). Many of you might not be aware that the father-son relationship shown in ‘Animal’ is quite similar to and perhaps inspired from what we saw in Feroz Khan’s 1992 film ‘Yalgaar’ in which Sanjay Dutt’s character yearned for his father’s approval and affection, albeit leading to devastating consequences.
3. ‘Animal’ has a runtime of around 3 hours and 21 minutes, making it one of longest Indian films ever made. In fact, there are just a few films including ‘Sholay’, ‘Swades’, ‘Lagaan’, and ‘LOC Kargil’ which are longer than ‘Animal’.
4. Just a few days back, it was revealed that Bobby Deol, who plays an antagonist in ‘Animal’, does not have any dialogues in the movie. And the reason is reportedly because his character is mute and does not have the ability to speak. So, he is playing a mute villain in the film.
5. Before Rashmika Mandanna was roped in to play the female lead opposite Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Animal’, it was Parineeti Chopra who was earlier supposed to play that role. However, things didn’t work out reportedly because of scheduling conflict with another film and Rashmika Mandanna stepped in to essay the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s wife.
