5 Things To Know Before Tovino Thomas’s ‘Kala’ Drops This Thursday!

After months of waiting, we finally get to see this much anticipated Tovino Thomas film ‘Kala’. It will also be the first time in over a year since we saw another one of the Malayali star’s films on the silver screen. The actor’s last film was ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’ which premiered directly on TV during Onam (during the first week of September) and his previous theatrical release was the mystery thriller ‘Forensic’, which came out in February 2020. ‘Kala’ is dropping in theaters this coming Thursday, day after tomorrow, so here are five things you need to know before you watch the film.

Tovino Thomas

Yes, the presence of this actor himself is a big factor to watch this movie. Previously known for his supporting roles and side characters, this character actor has evolved and stepped up his game, portraying various different types of everyday men, slowly showing the South Indian film industry that he is an artist to be reckoned with. This actor joins a new generation of brilliant film artists, and is known to take up demanding roles and we can’t wait to see the role he will portray in this film.

‘A’ Rating

This movie has been given an ‘A’ certification by the Kerala film board, which has been celebrated by the lead, Tovino Thomas himself. Normally, this type of certification is bad for the movie as it will not draw in family crowds (which makes up a chunk of the Kerala film watching community), but these are not normal times. Since the pandemic has restricted many from going to theaters and families not attending theaters for safety reasons anyway, now is the perfect time to release the film. This also changes the dynamics of “Adults only” films by releasing in the main film market.

No Cuts

Since the ‘A’ certification is up, the film director doesn’t have to make any edits or cuts to the movie. This will help the movie to maintain its flow and the writer-director gets to show his movie in its complete essence.

Realistic Action Sequences

The trailer showed a few brilliant edited sequences that featured some epic action, so we know there is going to be some good fight scenes. And if that wasn’t enough, Tovino Thomas had injured himself on the set of this movie during a fight scene, where he took a kick to the gut by accident. The actor was hospitalized for a week, and then he returned to shoot the fight sequence and the rest of the film. We have heard rumours that the “kick-to-the-gut” has made it on screen, so we can’t wait to see how it looks on the silver screen.

Multistar cast

Lal and Divya Pillai will join Tovino Thomas in this upcoming theatrical thriller. Lal is known for his brilliant work, not only in Malayalam cinema but also in the Tamil film industry as well having acted in over 100 films. DIvya Pillai is relatively new but is well known for her roles in ‘Ayal Njanalla’ and ‘Oozham’.
