5 things To Know Before You Watch Amazon Prime’s Cold Case

The much anticipated Malayalam crime thriller ‘Cold Case‘ is finally premiering at the end of this month (June) and it will be releasing on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video. The teaser for the film dripped a week back and the trailer, a few days ago. There has been many questions about this upcoming Prithviraj starter, so before the movie drops next week, check out five things you should know before you watch this film:

Cop Thriller
This crime thriller will be an investigation thriller. A murder has taken place (in the beginning of the movie) and we follow Prithviraj’s character, A.C.P. M. Sathyajith as he attempts to piece together the clues he has to find out the killer.

No Fight Sequences
This movie will be one of the few rare South-Indian cop films which will not have any fight sequences. The cop-part of the film is expected to be a pure investigation side to the movie, and with the Covid-19 restrictions coming into play at the time of production, the “no fight sequences” decision helped said film production.

Supernatural Elements
Even though ‘Cold Case’ is a cop thriller, this movie’s trailer also shows us that there is some mysterious supernatural elements at play too. The death featured in the movie might have happened through some unnatural means, so there are two types of investigation happening in the movie – one based on logic, the other based on faith.

Made For OTT
This movie was made for the OTT audiences in mind, so we do not expect the film’s pacing to dip or stagger. This will however be Prithviraj’s first direct-to-OTT starring film so it is still a big step for the Malayalam superstar.

Amazon Prime‘s Mollywood Acquisitions
Amazon Prime has managed to get multiple Malayalam direct-to-OTT releases on to their platform. Netflix has been making acquisitions from the Malayalam film Industry as well, however the International OTT only has one Malayalam direct-to-OTT release to its name, ‘Irul’, and it wasn’t as good as it could have been. With ‘Cold Case’ and ‘Sara’s’ now releasing in Amazon Prime Video (directly), it looks like Mollywood is trusting Amazon Prime Video to release its films to the digital format directly over Netflix, currently.

‘Cold Case’ will stream on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, June 30th 2021.
