Amazon Prime Video streaming service has churned out some well-made Indian and foreign films since the OTT platform’s inception. The list includes ‘Reacher’, ‘Jack Ryan’, ‘The Boys’, ‘The Family Man’, ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Soorarai Pottru’, ‘Jai Bhim’, ‘Drishyam 2’, ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’, and ‘Guilty Minds’, to name a few.
In order to enjoy all these titles to the fullest, Amazon Prime Video’s subscribers in India should be aware of some useful features provided by its OTT app. We have compiled a list of five useful features to make your binge-watching experience more worthwhile and enjoyable.
X-Ray
Arguably, the most useful and unique feature on Amazon Prime Video. While watching a show or a movie, just tap on the screen once and you’ll find the X-Ray section on the top left corner of your screen. The feature gives you detailed info on the show or movie’s cast and characters, interesting trivia, and other related details. Through the X-Ray feature, you can also directly jump to a specific scene you want to watch.
Hide a Title
In case any movie or series title, which you are uninterested in watching, keeps cropping up on the Amazon Prime Video OTT app, you have the option to hide that particular title in order to stop it from appearing thereafter. On your smartphone app, you can do so by long-pressing the title and then tapping on the ‘Hide this video’ button. On Prime Video’s desktop app, the title can be hidden by just moving your mouse on the title and then clicking the hide button. The list of hidden titles can be viewed from the ‘Hidden Videos’ tab in Prime Video’s settings menu. A simple yet useful feature.
Watch Party
Some time back, Amazon Prime Video had added the ‘Watch Party’ feature for its Indian subscribers as well. Let’s say you want to watch the same movie or show together with your family members or friends who are away. You can do that by selecting the ‘Watch Party’ button from the title page in your mobile or desktop app and watching the title in sync with others. It can be done by creating a link and sharing it with the concerned people. The feature also has a chat box to communicate with other co-watchers.
Shuffle Episodes
For instance, you’re watching or re-watching your favorite show but unable to decide which episode you want to watch at that moment. Just tap on the ‘More’ button on the title page and press the ‘Shuffle Episodes’ button. The feature will allow you to watch episodes of that series in random order. It’s useful for shows with standalone episodes like, say, ‘The Office’ or ‘Panchayat’, which do not have a continuous storyline.
Auto Play Content & Trailers
In case you’re watching a web series and after you finish an episode, the next one automatically begins, in that case, the ‘Autoplay’ option for your account has been enabled. If you don’t want Amazon to automatically play the next episode of a show, you can disable the ‘Autoplay’ option from your Prime Video’s ‘Accounts and Settings’ tab. From the same menu, you can also disable the ‘Autoplay Trailers’ option to avoid automatically playing trailers for the titles you browse.
