Last evening, Letterboxd, the definitive social networking site for film buffs, released its annual ‘Year In Review’ lists, a comprehensive collation of the best films of the year. Letterboxd released lists as per various categories and genres, such as Best Action/Adventure Films of The Year, Best Romantic Film Of The Year, and so on.

After releasing category-wise lists, Letterboxd released its most consolidated, prestigious and ultimate list of the 20 Highest-Rated International Films of 2021. Indian film lovers will be pleased to know that as many as six Indian films have made it to the list!
The six films straddle myriad languages and genres, including Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil films, in genres as diverse as social dramas, sport dramas, biopics and crime dramas.

Interestingly, only one Hindi film made it to the six top international films from India. The remaining five are from the stellar South film industries, Tamil and Malayalam, to be specific.
