67th National Film Awards: Catch The Winners & All The Action!

The 67th National Film Award ceremony is currently being held in New Delhi as you read this. The prestigious awards are being presented by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and although the winners were announced in March earlier this year, the offical award ceremony was pushed due to the pandemic. This award ceremony will see the honoring of the best in cinema for the year 2019. Catch all the action currently happening right here!

While Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was conferred with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, actors Manoj Bajpayee, Kangana Ranaut and Dhanush won acting honours for their performances. Ranaut was awarded her 4th National award for her performances in ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and ‘Panga’, whereas Bajpayee and Dhanush won for ‘Bhosle’ and ‘Asuran‘ respectively, the latter also winning the award for best Tamil film. The best Telugu film went to ‘Jersey‘, while that for Malayalam and Marathi went to ‘Kalla Nottam’ and ‘Bardo’ respectively.

Director Priyadarshan’s Malayalam epic period drama ‘Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea’ won the Best Feature Film, though the film is yet to release, the delay owing to the pandemic. ‘Chhichhore’, starring late Sushant Singh Rajput, was presented the Best Hindi Film award, with director Nitesh Tiwari dedicating the award to Sushant. While Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi won Best Supporting Actor for ‘Super Deluxe’, the Best Supporting Actress award went to Pallavi Joshi for ‘The Tashkent Files’.
