Hyena, 2020 (Netflix)
Story of two elite lawyers, working for the top 1% of the society will do anything to win the cases. Though, it differs based on what the situation is as Jang Geum-ja is obsessed about money any will any case at any given cost as compared to her rival lawyer Yoon Hee-jae who works smartly and is elite in every sense and gives his two cents and thoughts about the case before going forward with anything. The name itself suggests how they compete amongst each other, but still end up working together as situations force them to. One of the highest rated shows of 2020; starring Kim Hye-soo and Ju Ji-hoon as the leads this definitely proved its might.
Suits, 2018 (Netflix)
The South Korean remake of the American hit series Suits, it follows the journey of an experienced lawyer who brings in a young guy into the law firm who though doesn’t have a law degree, has one of the sharpest memories which helps the team in winning cases. The show had really good ratings for that year and was also critically acclaimed. The show stars Jang Dong-gun and Park Hyung-sik in the lead roles.
Innocent Defendant, 2017 (Netflix)
Story of a prosecutor who was wrongly accused of killing his wife and burying his daughter needs to prove his innocence as this drama goes on. A very intricate story that will literally make you think what actually is going on and who is doing all these. Even though it might look like you know the answer, don’t let it fool you. A very beautifully captured series that shows the minute details of law and also gives us a peek into the prison life. Starring Ji Sung, Um Ki Joon, Kwon Yu-ri along with others this definitely one of the must watch.
Strangers, 2017 (Netflix)
This is one of those few k-dramas that got renewed for a second season which was released in 2020. Story of a prosecutor and police official who has their own personal issues but come together to unravel some deep hidden secrets buried in the very heart of the system. Both the seasons are set two years apart and focus completely on different topics. Domestically and internationally both the seasons of the show have received immense success.
I Can Hear Your Voice, 2013 (Netflix)
Predominantly a love story, the show follows the journey of a young girl who rises above her poverty and becomes a lawyer and meets a boy who can read the thoughts in other people’s mind. Together they team up and solve cases that they end up falling into. This is one of those Lee Jong-suk’s series that is a must watch. The series stars Lee Jong-suk, Lee Bo-young in lead roles.
Suspicious Partner, 2017 (Netflix)
Another love story that revolves around court cases, murders, law firms and painful past. This is one of the most popular legal kdrama out there. Starring Ji Chang-wook and Nam Ji-hyun in the lead roles, the series is about lawyers and prosecutors and as they go by solving major cases that shape their lives
Misty, 2018 (Netflix)
Story of a popular anchor who gets herself tangled in murder case and is now being represented by her husband. It would have been simple, if the couple weren’t going through issues and were not on the verge of divorcing. This is one kdrama that most people don’t think exists, as people have the misconception of thinking that k-dramas can only have cute and sweet stuff. This will be an exact opposite of your thoughts. The series stars Ji Jin-hee, Lee kyoung-young, Jin Ki-joo in lead roles.
