A Discovery Of Witches

This is a British Fantasy series that is based on the bestselling novels of the “All Souls” trilogy written by Deborah Harkness. The series has two seasons at the moment and 18 episodes at the moment and is renewed for a third season. The show follows the magical journey of a historian named Diana Bishop, who also happens to be a witch but won’t use her powers until extremely necessary. One would say a very low-key witch. She uncovers an age old manuscript in a library and is pulled back into the world of magical creatures and beings. Getting help from a vampire Mathew, Diana sets out on a journey to solve the mysteries of the magical world. The series stars Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode in the lead roles.
American Gods

American Gods is a fantasy drama series that is based on Neil Galman’s 2001 novel of the same name. The series at the moment has 3 seasons and 23 episodes. The series is the journey of Mr. Moon Shadow is an ex-convict who comes out of jail, when his wife dies and he comes across Mr. Wednesday. Mr. Wednesday is a mystical person who continuously keeps offering him a job and later when he accepts, he becomes Mr. Wednesday’s his driver, assistant and bodyguard. As he joins Mr. Wednesday, he comes across a mythical land where the Old Gods are at war with the New Gods. This is where Mr. Shadow and Mr. Wednesday set out on a magical journey to unite them both.
Carnival Row

Starring Cara Delevigne and Orlando Bloom as the leads, Carnival Row is a fantasy drama based on a film script of the same name by Travis Beacham. The series is 1 season with a second series being renewed and has 8 episodes in all. The show follows a story, where the mythical creatures come down from their war town homeland to new city. The tension among the citizens and the creatures are rising as a string of crimes erupts, along with power as soon as they decide to make this their peaceful stay.
The Magicians

The Magicians is a fantasy series that is based on the novel of the same name by Lev Grossman. The show has 5 seasons, with the 5th season being the last one which came out in 2020. The show has 65 episodes in total. Revolving around a university that teaches magic to its students, the story follows the journey of Quentin Coldwater, who is the student of the university and once he is admitted that the magical world from his childhood is actually and is humankind’s biggest threat. As he trains for it, he realises his childhood best friend that was denied admission to the university is getting her magic from somewhere, one shouldn’t go.
His Dark Materials
Platform: Disney+ Hotstar
An adventure, fantasy series, the series is again based on a novel of the same by author Phillip Pullman and is produced and distributed by HBO internationally. The show has 2 seasons and consists of 15 episodes. A third and final season has been ordered for the series. The show is set in a multiverse where the story follows the journey of Lyra, a young orphan who lives with scholars and ends up finding more about the universe and a magical substance, Dust. She comes across a series of crimes and also a truth about the governing body of her world. Her fate says she will change the world for the better, but her destiny and fate is also connected to Will, in another world who is also being chased by magical creatures and should find the connection between everything.
Ragnarok
Platform: Netflix
Ragnarok is Norwegian fantasy drama series that is directly inspired by the Norse Mythology. Renewed for a second season, the first season consists of 6 episodes in total. The show gives somewhat of a reality check as the show is based in a fictional Norwegian town Edda, focuses on issues like climate change and pollution, which has taken the small town hostage. Posing as a rich family, a group of Norse mythical characters are planning to take down the town only to realise that they have to put up a fight against a teenage boy who comes to know that he is the incarnation of none other than Thor. He and his group of friends team up to prevent an upcoming Ragnarok and save the planet from those who have planned to destroy it.
Warrior Nun
platform: Netflix
An American fantasy series based on the comic book named “Warrior Nun Areala” by Ben Dunn and is created by Simon Barry. The show has one season consisting of 10 episodes at the moment and netflix renewed it for a second season. The show has bits and pieces of comedy instilled in various parts and follows the journey of an orphan who happens to be a quadriplegic but a certain biblical and supernatural object gives her a brand new life with an added responsibility of nothing much, but simply saving the world and her group of warrior nuns. The show gives what it tells, a literal butt kicking, flying and dangerous group of warriors who are also nuns and protect the world and people from mythical and biblical beings.
