Vishnu Vardhan Induri, producer of much anticipated upcoming films ‘83’ and ‘Thalaivi’ has now announced a brand new film franchise titled ‘Azad Hind’. The first film under this franchise will be based on Veerangana Durgawati Devi.
This latest feature film franchise was announced on the occasion of 75th Indian Independence Day today. As per producer Induri, it is a tribute to the unsung heroes of Indian independence fight who are lost in history.
The first film from Azad Hind franchise will tell the untold story of Veerangana Durgawati Devi who is also popularly known as ‘Durga Bhabhi’. Many legendary freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad were inspired from her fight against the British Raj. Moreover, British Secret Service Bureau MI 5 referred to her as ‘The Agni of India’.

While the producers have not mentioned anything about the cast for the film, netizens were quick to comment on the post saying that Kangana Ranaut would be best suited for the role. Ranaut is already working with producer Induri for ‘Thalaivi’ which is yet to get a release date.
Four time National Award winner, Kangana has earlier played the role of Rani Lakshmibai in her directorial film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’. She was also awarded with Padma Shri in 2020 by the Government of India. Other than ‘Thalaivi’, her upcoming film includes India’s first female led action thriller ‘Dhaakad’. She is also producing a web series ‘Tiku weds Sheru’ starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Coming back to filmmaker Vishnu Vardhan Induri, his two big and highly awaited films – Ranveer Singh’s 83 and Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi, haven’t set a premiere date as of now. But this hasn’t changed anything for Induri who is ready with a brand new feature film franchise. This further shows his confidence and optimism about the successful comeback of cinemas in near future.
