Some films swing in the extremes. You either love it or hate it; there is hardly something in between. A Netflix India film called Cobalt Blue is exactly that.
Before you wonder, it is an Indian film in Hindi that came on Netflix India in 2022 itself. However, it was not promoted to a great extent due to the same controversial elements and it also struggled for its release.
It was meant for 2021 but went on getting pushed before finally arriving in 2022.
The film is based on a book of the same name by Sachin Kundalkar. Interestingly even the film is written and directed by a novelist. So you can guess how this film is a result of a story that danced on the head of an artist for so long a time.
Before we go on telling the story, we must tell you that it is one of the most beautiful films to be shot. The colors, the visuals, the sets, and the overall poetic ambiance is what make the film so artistic. It is strictly “NOT” the mainstream type of cinema but meant for a particular group of cinephiles.
The story is about a conservative Marathi family living in Kerala. The younger members grow old in the villages of Kerala and somehow live their upper middle-class lives. A young man comes to rent a room in their house. He is charming and can woo easily.
He starts having an affair with both the younger brother and sister in the family. What happens later is for you to find out.
Thus the premise might be unhealthy for some people but the opposite is true too. It is a beautifully shot film and you must watch it if you happen to be tempted by it.
