A Case Filed Against This Latest Movie Streaming On Netflix!

The movie follows Krishna, a young engineer who is unrequitedly in love with his senior, Sathya. But soon another woman, Radha enters his life and he is at a crossroads as he has to choose one over the other. The movie which was released unexpectedly on the streaming platform has been produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and received decent reviews from critics and audience in the one day that it has been out on Netflix.

The film’s cast, which consists of Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Shraddha Srinath, Seerat Kapoor and Shalini Vadnikatti, has received a cyber-crime complaint by some for supposedly offending religious sentiments of a certain community. The name ‘Krishna and Leela’ is a significant name in the Hindu community and are revered as deities.

So the movie, which has many vulgar and sexually explicit scenes between the characters within the film has hurt some viewers’ sentiments and they have subsequently filed a case in the state of Uttar Pradesh against the film for portraying the characters in such a bad light.

The case has been filed on June 26^th and no formal action has been taken against any of the cast or crew of the film as of now.

This is not the first time a film has landed in trouble for offending religious sentiments, films such as ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Zero’ have also faced backlash and complaints. The question has to be asked whether filmmakers can ‘hurt sentiments’ in the name of ‘artistic liberty’ or has the line been blurred already?
