If you like Bengali art films, you must have come across Rituparno Ghosh some time in your life. Rituparno Ghosh is the filmmaker who turned the intellectual minds of Bengal towards the theaters once again with his thoughtful films after a long dark period of nonsensical commercials.
‘Chitrangada’ is the most personal movie that Rituparno ever made and it is also the most controversial one. It tells the story of two artists, obsessed and madly in love. Rudro and Partha love each other deeply and also work together in a theater. Thru want to adopt a child but the law does not let them. So Rudra decides to undergo a sex change operation so that the authorities finally let him adopt a child. He takes the decision against the whole family and it affects the entire course of his life.
‘Chitrangada: The Crowing Wish’ takes the immortal character of Rabindranath Tagore and further glorifies her. The movie has its beautiful music composed by Debojyoti Mishra, just like most Rituparno movies. The cinematography is handled by Abhik Mukhopadhyay.
The cast is just stunning and Rituparno himself plays the epic character of Rudra. Jisshu Sengupta plays Partha and there are other actors like Kaushik Banerjee and Dipankar Dey.
