‘Anbe Sivam‘ or ‘Shivam’ is written by Kamal Hassan and directed by Sundar C. The film tells the story of a NRI Anbarasu who works for a multinational company and meets a man with some deformities in an airport. The man is named Nallasivam and he is mistaken for a terrorist at first. Nallasivam or Sivam sticks with Anbarasu even though the latter does not want him around and is annoyed by his presence.
Sivam eventually helps Anbarasu in many ways, but fails to win his heart. He starts narrating the story of his life to an unwilling audience of his travel partner. In a quick flashback, we get to know that Sivam was not like this all his life and how he used to have a girlfriend and a team of passionate rebels.
The film has a very interesting twist in the end and you will end up teary eyed after watching the full movie. There is no doubt that Kamal Hassan is one of the finest actors of not only India but the world too. And his performance here will make you fall in love with the art of acting. He has two different looks in the film and he nails both of them perfectly. R. Madhavan in the character of Anbarasu is annoying at times but does an overall good job. The supporting cast also do justice to their roles.
Composer Vidyasagar has given some wonderful songs to the movie and the cinematography is handled by Arthur A. Wilson. You can watch the film on Netflix and you will not regret it.
