A Dark-Comedy Thriller Is On Its Way

The Indian entertainment industry is back with another remake and this time it’s Nordic drama series ‘Black Widows’, a remake of the Finnish show ‘Mustat lesket’ itself. The Indian version, also titled as ‘Black Widows’, is going to be the eight international remake.

ZEE5 has struck a deal with NENT Studios U.K. to make two 12-episode seasons, starring Shamita Shetty, Swastika Mukherjee and Mona Singh as the protagonists, to be directed by Birsa Dasgupta – a Tollywood director. The supporting cast includes Sharad Kelkar, Raima Sen, Parambrata Chatterjee, Aamir Ali and Sabyasachi Chakraborty amongst others.

After a not-so-successful venture in her digital debut ‘Yo Ke Hua Bro’, Shamita Shetty will be hoping to taste some success with this thriller. Swastika Mukherjee has been on a roll in 2020, featuring in two web series and two movies – one each in Bengali and Hindi. Mona Singh has been a part of three web series before, but this is going to be her first in the current year.

A dark dramedy based on three best friends wanting to kill their abusive husbands, the plotline gets interesting after they try to kill them and one survives.

All the stakeholders – produces, cast and crew – are very excited and hopeful about this show, as reported from their interviews.

It’s already in filming stage and the first part is confirmed to launch later this year, most probably in December.
