AMC’s critically acclaimed gothic horror series, Interview With a Vampire, is all set to make a stronger comeback with its second season. Pitted against a dark and fiery background, the trailer teases the unfolding of a sinister tale.
The first season was a captivating departure from the novel as it reframed the story as a toxic romance set in the 1920s.
The series began with the vampire Louis recounting his past life and tumultuous relationship with his maker and lover, Lestat. It ended, however, with revelations that Louis’ story is full of plot holes and manipulations, particularly regarding Lestat’s fate.
This, therefore, calls into question the truthfulness of his entire narrative. What further questions his integrity is when it is disclosed that he and the interview both, were being manipulated from behind the scenes.
The teaser proceeds with Louis encapsulating the life he’s lived with one word: shit. It offers insight into stories of regret, mistakes, and impending doom. Lestat, is yet again, described to be as unsuitable as a hurricane.
The grotesque photomontages paint pictures of the interlinked lives of not only the main characters but also everyone they impacted with their brash decisions. The trailer ends with a thought-provoking quote: ‘Memory is a monster’. How much of this applies to Louis and Lestat’s story will only be revealed with the premiere of Season 2 on 12th May, exclusively on Prime Video.
