A Look at Indian Films at The FilmColumbia 2022 Film Festival

The 2022 edition of the FilmColumbia film festival is set to commence next month from 21st October onwards. The ten-day film festival will conclude on 30th October. The film festival will showcase some eagerly anticipated Hollywood movies like James Gray’s ‘Armageddon Time’, horror road movie ‘Bones & All’, Florian Zeller’s ‘The Son’, and Brendan Fraser starrer ‘The Whale’, etc. Other than these, the following three Indian movies will also be screened at the FilmColumbia film festival, which will take place at the renowned Crandell Theatre – Columbia County’s oldest and biggest movie theatre.

The Cloud and the Man

Helmed by Abhinandan Banerjee and shot in monochrome format, the film’s story revolves around a middle-aged and lonely office worker named Manik, who lives with and takes care of his ailing father in Kolkata. But after his father dies, he forms a unique and meaningful bond with a cloud which Manik strangely thinks has been following him.

All That Breathes

Set against the backdrop of Delhi, the documentary film revolves around two brothers namely Saud and Nadeem whose childhood entailed watching the birds of prey, also known as the black kite, in the sky. Shaunak Sen’s film narrates how the two brothers have dedicated their lives to protect these birds which are now falling from the polluted skies. The movie has already won rave reviews from several film festivals across the globe.

RRR

S.S Rajamouli’s period action movie features Ram Charan and Jr.NTR in the lead roles and Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. ‘RRR’ is a fictional tale set in the 1920s that revolves around two legendary Indian revolutionaries namely Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR) and how they join hands to fight against the mighty and tyrannical British empire. ‘RRR’ is now one of the strongest contenders for the Oscar 2023 race.
