Tom Hanks’ much-awaited film ‘A Man Called Otto’ will finally start streaming in India on regular subscription-based OTT. The adorable film premieres on Netflix India this coming week, on Monday, 10th April, to be precise.
‘A Man Called Otto’ has been available to watch in India for some time now, but only on rental platforms. The film can be watched by paying a one-time rent of ₹249 on Prime Video India or ZEE5, and at ₹250 on YouTube Movies or Google Play Movies. Much as we hate to say it, ₹250 is much too steep a price to watch ‘A Man Called Otto’ on TV. Now, the film will soon premiere on regular subscription-based OTT, much to the delight of film fans.
The slice-of-life drama stars Tom Hanks in the titular role of Otto Anderson, a grumpy old man, who’s lost pleasure in life after the death of his wife. The film is adapted from the best-selling 2012 novel, ‘A Man Called Ove’, written by Fredrik Backman. The book has earlier been adapted into a Swedish film of the same name, back in 2015.
The official synopsis of ‘A Man Called Otto’ reads, “When a lively young family moves in next door, grumpy widower Otto Anderson meets his match in a quick-witted, pregnant woman named Marisol, leading to an unlikely friendship that turns his world upside down”.
Mariana Treviño plays the role of the lively pregnant woman, Marisol, in ‘A Man Called Otto’. Tom Hanks’ son Truman Hanks plays the younger version of Otto Anderson in the film. Rachel Keller and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo also play pivotal roles in the film.
