A Married Woman: ALTBalaji, ZEE5’s Next Is On An Explosive Subject!

By Binged Bureau - Oct 22, 2020 @ 03:10 pm

Alt Balaji has known to be bold in churning our shows since it’s inception in the OTT market. They have always set their own standards and with their unorthodox approach have won the hearts of Indian audience.

While, the platform started with erotic shows it soon enough changed itself after producing several hit content of various genres in the past few years. And daring they are, they are back again with a new series which probably might ruffle a few minds.

Alt Balaji along with Zee5 announced a female centric series titled “A Married Woman” earlier this year in the month of January which is based on the book by Manju Kapur of the same name.

The movie focuses on lesbianism, a topic which is still debated among the Indian audience. With the abolishment of section 377 of IPC, there has been several movies and television series regarding the topic of homosexuality, which definitely is the need of the hour. But most of these shows have been limited to sexual desires and lust.

Alt Balaji through A Married Woman is looking to break the notion regarding the homosexuality in their own way and explain that homosexuality is much more than lust. Here the story will focus on two individual souls who try to rise beyond their religion, society and sexual boundaries to find each other.

But you might think that’s why this is explosive in nature? Well the catch is that, the show is set in the backdrop of the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition which caused an uproar in the country and the topic still remains one of the most heated ones.

The show will follow the story of Aastha Kapur who is a perfect wife, mother, and daughter in law who takes care of everyone but is not able to do what she wants as every decision for her is taken by someone else. She’ll meet Peeplika and with her find the true meaning of her life.

While the show is set on the backdrop of a religious incident, and with the controversial topic of lesbianism it might be interesting to see how the show turns out. While seeing the current nature of the country, anything can be boycotted in an instant and thus the makers will have to be very careful regarding their journey.

A Married Woman was supposed to go on floor earlier in the year but due to Covid-19, and restricted shootings it didn’t happened. But the makers of the show and the lead actress Ridhi Dogra shared that the crew has started shooting for the show and thus we’ll be able to watch it soon enough.
