All of a sudden, regional OTT platforms are rising again and becoming the next big thing. Just a few days ago, KableOne arrived with its astronomical prices and high ambitions. Now, Bengal is seeing its newest player in the regional market.
The platform is called Fridaay and is backed by Camellia.
Bengal already has its fair share of regional players. Among the prominent ones are Hoichoi and Addatimes.
However, fans have shown warmth towards this new platform because it is owned by Camellia, with claims that the ‘Bengali’ owners will understand the sentiments of the people. That’s an argument we won’t enter into right now, but let’s shed some light on the pricing part.
Fridaay offers three plans: monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
Basic: ₹99 (30 Days)
Pro: ₹299 (90 Days)
Premium: ₹999 (365 Days)
Being compared to Addatimes and Hoichoi is understandable, but when it comes to pricing, Fridaay is charging more than Hoichoi. Considering Hoichoi’s extensive library, people might not easily switch to Fridaay. Let’s have a comparison, shall we?
These prices seem absurd for Fridaay, as the platform is just starting its journey and has a very limited library. For now, it should focus on competing with Addatimes because Hoichoi, with its competitive pricing and extensive library, is technically out of reach. Building such a library can’t be done in just a couple of years.
