A New Boondock Saints Films In Work

The 1999 action thriller is definitely one of the very best of that era. Starring Willem Dafoe, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Norman Reedus, the film echoed success, but its story isn’t over yet. Boondock Saints might have one more run, this time with a reboot.

Thunder Road, known for producing John Wick, teams up with Dragonfly Films to expand the Boondock Saints franchise, aiming to create a universe with the film.

Troy Duffy, creator and director of the original Boondock Saints films, steps back as director for the franchise’s expansion. Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery will return, but a new director is being sought. Duffy intends to continue the Saints’ story through a series of books.

The films starred Reedus, Flanery, and Billy Connolly, and their characters will feature in the universe expansion.

Action franchises like Road House are experiencing a resurgence, with Amazon anticipating high streaming success for a reinvention by Doug Liman and Joel Silver, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. It is also a Thunder Road and Dragonfly Films production, and early reviews are promising, with similar expectations for Boondock Saints.
