A New Dawn: ‘Your Name’ Artist Shinomiya Makes Directorial Debut!

Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, the Artist who has worked with Makoto Shinkai in multiple projects, is now coming with a film of his own. ‘A New Dawn’ will be his Directorial debut, and very naturally, it will be an animated film.

Yoshitoshi Shinomiya has previously worked in the movies of Shinkai like ‘Your Name’ and ‘Garden Of Words’. Shinkai gathered worldwide appreciation for these movies and much of the credit goes to Shinomiya. Now that the artist is coming back with a film of his own, we can trust that there will of course be something of value in ‘A New Dawn’.

‘A New Dawn’ is said to be a very personal story for the director. It will chronicle the aftermath of the great earthquake that hit Eastern Japan in 2011. It will be the story of a young boy named Keitaro who lives in an abandoned factory that is soon going to be under government control. His father has died long ago but he still imagines his father around. The greenery and the landscape of the city around the factory is changing soon and before leaving the ‘home’ Keitaro plans to bang the fireworks that his father had left for him.

In the making of the movie, Yoshitoshi Shinomiya has employed some new techniques of animation and filmmaking which we will get to know after the release. The movie is still under production. Release date and other details will be revealed later on.
