‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff Movie Gets a Release Date

In a recent development, Paramount has marked a release date for a third movie which will be based on John Krasinski’s ‘A Quiet Place’ universe. The third film, which has been listed as ‘Untitled A Quiet Place spin-off’, is set to release on March 31, 2023.

The news has come on the heels of the rousing box office response to the recent theatrical release of ‘A Quiet Place Part II’. The film released on 28th May 2021 and has already grossed more than $93 million against the reported budget of $61 million.

While the first two films were directed by John Krasinski, the third one will be written and directed by Jeff Nichols, based on an idea by John Krasinski. It was recently announced that Nichols has already finished writing the script for the film. And be assured that the sci-fi horror franchise is in adept hands. Because the talented filmmaker is not new to the science fiction genre.

Jeff Nichols made his directorial debut with the 2007 thriller ‘Shotgun Stories’, which revolved around the rivalry that erupts between two sets of half-brothers at their father’s funeral. The film featured Michael Shannon in the lead role.

His next was a science fiction thriller titled ‘Take Shelter’. Also starring Michael Shannon, it revolved around a father hallucinating about apocalyptic visions and build an expensive storm shelter in his backyard.

Thereafter, he helmed the Matthew McConaughey starrer ‘Mud’. The film followed the story of two teenage boys who try to help a fugitive reunite with his lover. Nichols’ next directorial venture was another science fiction film called ‘Midnight Run’. While the latest film helmed by him was the biographical drama titled ‘Loving’, that revolved around an interracial marriage and the ensuing legal battle.

While the directorial abilities of Jeff Nichols cannot be doubted, how the filmmaker will approach and execute the critically and commercially acclaimed ‘A Quite Place’ horror film franchise, remains to be seen.
