A Sneak-Peek of the Opening Scene of John Krasinski’s ‘A Quiet Place Part II’

By Binged Bureau - Apr 29, 2021 @ 01:04 pm

Three years ago, ‘Jack Ryan’ star John Krasinski surprised all movie watchers with his directorial post-apocalyptic horror flick ‘A Quiet Place’. The critically acclaimed film starred Krasinski alongside his real-life partner – the ravishing Emily Blunt.

The husband-wife pairing gave the film a credible vibe, thereby adding a new dimension to the dreaded ambiance of the film. And now the sequel is geared up for a May theatrical release, reportedly followed by a subsequent OTT release.

Interestingly, after the film’s initial success, the duo was apprehensive about making its sequel as they thought that it might adversely affect the audiences’ fond memories of the original film.

However, things took a U-turn when Krasinski conceived a beautiful idea and eventually convinced Blunt otherwise.

So, what really persuaded Blunt to give the sequel a go-ahead? (Minor Spoilers Ahead) Incidentally, it was the film’s sublime yet heart-rending opening sequence that Krasinski had in his mind.

The scene was a flashback showing the Abbott family (including Krasinski) enjoying a baseball game, not knowing what tragedy was about to hit the world.

Krasinski explained that he got a rudimentary idea for the opening scene from a beach scene, that was featured in Steven Spielberg’s cult creature horror film ‘Jaws’. Whether this scene actually features in the sequel remains to be seen.

Also featuring in the sequel titled ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ will be Irish actor Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Inception, 28 Days Later), The adept actor will be seen essaying the role of a mysterious stranger. Regarding the 2018 film and its forthcoming sequel, Krasinski had also given us a beautiful analogy explaining the film’s premise:

“The first one is about the promise you make as a parent, that if you stick with me, I can keep you safe forever. That’s a promise that I think all parents know will be broken. I realized when that promise is broken, that’s what growing up is… So if the first one is a love letter to my kids, then this is a weird letter to my kids about the dream that I have for them. I hope they’re this positive, I hope they’re this courageous, and they can go into the dark and light a candle.”

The highly anticipated sequel was supposed to release earlier but was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic situation. ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ is now expected to release on May 28, 2021.

The film will ostensibly follow the Abbott family’s struggle (without the father) to survive in a dangerous world inhabited by the deadly, blind creatures.

In the meanwhile, you can also watch another similarly themed film ‘Bird Box’ if you still haven’t (starring the fantastic Sandra Bullock) that released in the same year as ‘A Quiet Place’. ‘Bird Box’ is currently streaming on the Netflix streaming platform.
