A Vessel For Justice: Another Revolutionary Documentary

To those of you that are aware of the accoladed documentary, To Kill A Tiger, we bring forth another powerful and important documentary. “You Are Not Alone: Fighting the Wolfpack” is among the latest additions to Netflix’s roster of social commentary based documentaries, which focuses on an infamous case that acted as a catalyst for reinterpreting sexual assault and rape laws in Spain.

The film is centred around the gang-rape of an 18 year old woman during the San Fermin bull running festival taking place in Pamplona on July 7, 2016. Committed by a group of 5 men that shamelessly call themselves ‘La Manada’ (The Wolfpack), the incident was classified by the government as the lesser crime of sexual abuse, with the government stating that there wasn’t any evidence of violence involved. This led to a public outrage and the documentary shows the impact of the voice of the people and how it revolutionized the perception of sexual abuse in Spain.

Directed by Emmy Award winning pair Robert Bahar and Almudena Carracedo, this documentary can be streamed on Netflix, and so is To Kill A Tiger, and it is a must watch as we realize the fallacies of the justice structures in place, and the power of speaking out and acting on what is right.
