A24 has unveiled the official trailer of The Eternal Daughter, starring Tilda Swinton in a dual role. Joanna Hogg has helmed and written the upcoming mystery horror flick. She is prominent for directing The Souvenir (2019) and it’s sequel (2021). Swinton also starred in both of those projects. It is Hogg’s sixth directional venture with Martin Scorsese serving as one of the executive producers.
The film revolves around a mother-daughter duo, both played by Swinton. They both decide to move back into their family house, now turned into a hotel. Soon, they realise that ghosts also reside with them. This unsettling discovery starts affecting their lives and twists their mother-daughter bond in unimaginable ways.
Apart from Swinton, The Eternal Daughter stars Joseph Mydell, Carly-Sophia Davies, and Alfie Sankey-Green. The film premiered at this year’s Venice International Film Festival and received rave reviews with critics highlighting the leading woman’s performance in the film. The production commenced in Wales during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
Swinton starred in George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing earlier this year opposite Idris Elba. She will also be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, set to premiere on Netflix on December 9. Furthermore, she is a part of Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City and David Fincher’s The Killer.
The Eternal Daughter will release in theatres worldwide on December 2. Stay tuned for more updates.
