A24, maintaining its momentum from this year’s Academy Awards, has dropped the trailer of its upcoming comedy-drama, You Hurt My Feelings, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The Nicole Holofcener directional debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival back in January and opened to critical acclaim. It currently stands at a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 53 reviews.
Louis-Dreyfus is reteaming with Holofcener for the forthcoming A24 project after Enough Said (2013), in which she starred opposite the late James Gandolfini.
The official trailer of ‘You Hurt My Feelings’ showcases the leading lady in fine form. In the film, she plays Beth, a struggling novelist who believes her ideas are becoming old in today’s world. She is married to Don, an unsuccessful therapist. Her marriage reaches the brink of collapse after she discovers her husband’s white lies about her latest novel. His honest reaction sows the seeds of distrust between the couple.
Apart from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the film’s cast has Tobias Menzies, Michaela Watkins, Arian Moayed, Owen Teague, Jeannie Berlin, David Cross, and many more performers.
A24 rocked this year’s Oscars, with Everything Everywhere All At Once bagging seven Oscars, Brendan Fraser winning in the Best Actor category for his sensational work in The Whale, and Paul Mescal earning a nomination for his outstanding performance in Aftersun.
You Hurt My Feelings will release worldwide on May 26. But before this, cinephiles will get to see Joaquin Phoenix’s Beau Is Afraid on April 21. After Julia Louis-Dreyfus starrer, the indie studio will release Celine Song’s Past Lives on June 2. Stay tuned for more updates.
