A24 & Miramax Battling To Purchase TV Rights For ‘Halloween’

The sequel trilogy of Halloween commenced in 2018 with David Gordon Green’s Halloween. thanks to the trio of Miramax, Blumhouse Productions, and Trancas International Films, with Universal handling the distribution. The film breathed a new fire into the franchise, spawning two commercially successful sequels: Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween Ends (2023). The latter was supposed to be the final chapter in Michael Myers’ story. However, it seems like A24 and Miramax have their own strategies for the slasher franchise.

As per Bloody Disgusting’s latest report, Trancas International Films has started shopping for the rights to the Halloween franchise in Hollywood. Trancas serves as the sole owner of all TV rights, whereas Miramax possesses the film rights.

Both A24 and Miramax are bidding hard to bag the TV rights for the Halloween franchise, with A24 leading the ongoing bidding war.

Trancas is also considering offers from streaming platforms and studios and is interested in producing more TV and film projects.

So, we don’t know which studio will win the TV rights for the franchise. But we do know that Michael Myers will return. Stay tuned for more updates.
