A24 To Continue Filming Jenna Ortega’s Death of a Unicorn Amid Strike

According to Variety, SAG-AFTRA has approved the shoot of 39 indie movie projects amidst the ongoing strike after verifying that these projects were not associated with AMPTP companies. The list also encompasses two A24 projects: “Death of a Unicorn”, starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd, and “Mother Mary”, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. The former film’s production work is set to commence soon in Hungary.

A spokesperson from A24 has confirmed that the independent film production company is not a part of AMPTP.

The other projects include “Flight Risk”, starring Mark Wahlberg with Mel Gibson at the helm, “The Rivals of Amziah King”, starring Matthew McConaughey, “Bride Hard”, starring Rebel Wilson, “Dust Bunny”, starring Sigourney Weaver and Mads Mikkelsen, and more.

SAG-AFTRA declared a strike against tv and movie production companies on Thursday. The significant issues are streaming revenue sharing, usage of artificial intelligence, and basic increases in wages.

Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd will play a daughter-father duo in ‘Death of a Unicorn’. The upcoming A24 production has Alex Scharfman at the helm. Not much is known about the film’s plot, but it is expected to revolve around the characters of Ortega and Rudd, who run over a unicorn on their way home.

‘Death of a Unicorn’ is yet to receive a release window from A24. Stay tuned for more updates.
