A24 has unveiled the official trailer for its forthcoming horror thriller, Heretic, starring Hugh Grant. The latest clip shows the actor’s character trapping two young female Mormon missionaries inside his house to study them. Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East play the missionaries in this exciting horror project from directors Bryan Woods and Scott Beck.
The trailer doesn’t show any gore or violence, but it throws a curveball with a seemingly ordinary wooden maze that appears to have become enormous. One missionary gets trapped inside at the very end.
Apart from helming Heretic, the directional duo of Woods and Beck has also worked on the movie’s script. The duo is best known for helming popular films, such as Haunt (2019), 65 (2023), and The Boogeyman (2023). They rose to prominence after co-writing the script for John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place (2018).
Heretic is Hugh Grant’s second movie this year, after starring in Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted. The actor is also set to appear in the next Bridget Jones movie, “Mad About the Boy”, scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on February 14, 2025. Chloe East is best known for appearing in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans (2022), in which she played Monica Sherwood. Heretic marks Sophie Thatcher’s second collaboration with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck after The Boogeyman. The A24 project will come out in theatres globally on November 15, 2024.
