It looks like perfectionist actor Aamir Khan has buckled up to face the camera once again after the ‘Forrest Gump’ Indian adaptation ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ did not do well at the box office. In spite of that, the film was admired by a significant segment of cinephiles, and it received favorable reviews from multiple critics.
As per the latest update (via Mid-Day), Aamir Khan will commence filming for his next film from 29th January 2024. This film is reportedly the Indian remake of the critically acclaimed Spanish sports drama ‘Campeones’ but it is yet to be officially announced. Some time back, the veteran actor had revealed that the name of his next film had been titled ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. He further said that, in the upcoming film, his character will be helped by a group of boys who are dealing with their own issues.
Besides Aamir Khan in the lead role, the film will have multiple characters for which the makers are auditioning the actors who will be best suited for the roles. As of now, the production team is busy doing the prep work for the film’s shooting.
The upcoming Aamir Khan starrer will be directed by R.S. Prasanna, who had made his directorial debut with the Tamil rom-com movie ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’, which was later remade in Hindi as ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’.
In the Spanish film ‘Campeones’, which translates to ‘Champions’ in English, the story revolved around an arrogant and ill-tempered basketball coach, who is forced to train a basketball team comprising players with intellectual disabilities.
Interestingly, this sports drama film was apparently offered to several other actors namely Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Farhan Akhtar. However, things didn’t work out and now Aamir Khan himself is starring in it.
But Aamir Khan’s fans might be worried that since his last film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ was also a remake of Robert Zemeckis’ Academy Award winning film ‘Forrest Gump’, is it the right decision to go ahead with another remake? And since remakes in general have not done very well in the Hindi film industry of late, people are wary whether Aamir Khan doing another remake is the right decision or not at this point of time. We hope that the ‘Lagaan’ actor proves his detractors wrong and delivers a brilliant film which also sets the box office on fire. But that remains to be seen.
