Aankh Micholi is an upcoming comedy-drama that will hit the theatres in the summer of next year. With theatres opening back to normal, we are seeing a series of movie launches that will target the upcoming years of 2022 and 2023.
Some films that were announced recently were as big as Lal Singh Chaddha or KGF 2. While there are many small budget films like Hit starring Rajkumar Rao or Jug Jug Jeeyo starring Anil Kapoor. This has created a sort of hope theatres will be running as smoothly as they were in 2019. Just today, Aankh Micholi starring Paresh Rawal, Abhimanyu Dassani, Mrunal Thakur and Sharman Joshi has also been announced.
Abhimanyu Dassani debuted in the film ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ in 2018. His performance was greatly appreciated and the film is counted as one of the best comedy films that we have seen in recent years.
Paresh Rawal on the other hand is a widely recognised actor, particularly for his comic roles. Lately, his films such as Hungama 2 or “Hum Do Hamare Do” failed to do decent on the OTT.
But the director of the film is very familiar with Paresh Rawal as they worked together in “Oh My God”. It was highly popular and gave us the popular expression of OMG. Also, the director Umesh Shukla directed 102 Not Out, which came out to be a decent watch for light comedy.
But after the OTT revolution, whether small budget films in the same middle class flavour will work or not is still sceptical.
