About Love: A Story That Explores The Loneliness Beyond Love

What is the relationship between love and loneliness? Does the presence of one hint at the absence of the other? Can they both co-exist?

Archana Phadke’s documentary- About Love talks about these.

The film shows three generations of the Phadke family who live and work together in South Mumbai. As they prepare for a family wedding, Archana, who is not in any hurry to marry, observes the shifting, often very funny household dynamics.

We go through the highs and lows of the family, we feel their frustration, we laugh with them, we cringe with them, and we sing with them. Paired with beautiful visuals of her home, she focuses on three couples—her grandparents, her parents and her brother who is getting married.

About Love talks beyond love- it also talks about the loneliness of women. It talks about how their time goes by in helping their husbands, working with them and working for them. With all the responsibilities they juggle, it almost makes them forget about their alone time which gives them peace.

The film makes us realise that the difference between being alone and being lonely is vast.

Archana makes her house a character in the film. The place means home to the family members in their unique ways, and the house finds its way to express it in return.
