Showtime’s latest series to hit a chord with viewers, ‘The Curse’, has finally got a streaming release date in India. The satirical black comedy will premiere on 29th December, 2023, on Lionsgate Play in India.
Showtime series ‘The Curse’ premiered on streaming on Paramount Plus on 10th November, 2023. The series garnered great reviews and acclaim immediately after the first episode dropped. Critics and audiences lauded the quirky premise, and performances of lead actors Nathan Fielder, Emma Stone and Benny Safdie. The series has raked in impressive 93% ratings on ratings aggregating website, Rotten Tomatoes.
The basic premise of The Curse centres on newly-married couple Whitney and Asher Siegel, who are struggling to bring their vision for eco-conscious housing to the small community of Española, N.M. But their efforts are complicated by an alleged curse and an eccentrical reality TV producer, Dougie, who sees opportunity in their story. Turmoil infects Asher and Whitney’s production — and marriage — as Asher becomes increasingly convinced that a supernatural power is to blame.
The series is created and written by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie. The series is described by critics as “A wickedly uncomfortable marriage of sensibilities between Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, with a masterful Emma Stone tying everything together, The Curse will make viewers cackle and squirm in equal measure”.
The Curse premieres on Lionsgate Play on 29th December, 2023.
